French Restaurant
The Auberge Nicolas Flamel in the Marais area of Paris’ third district is the oldest restaurant in Paris, set up in 1407. It was originally a centre for poor people where they could come and pray, eat and stay if needed. It is now a gourmet restaurant that has maintained many of the features of the middle ages in the decor. Stone walls and wooden beams have been restored with care. The menu is exciting and changes frequently. The chef, Alan Geeam has a preference for traditional dishes adapted with Mediterranean spices. Try the leg of lamb cooked for over 7 hours or the lobster mille-feuille. For dessert try the chocolate gold bar Nicolas Flamel a reference to the famous alchemist who is the restaurant’s namesake and founder.
